Lymphatic Drainage
What is Lymphatic Drainage?
Lymphatic Drainage (LDT) is a light massage technique that helps to direct lymphatic fluid towards the lymph nodes. The lymphatic system is part of your immune system and cleans the body of toxins, proteins, cancer cells, viruses, and dead cells. LDT supports the lymphatic system in being more efficient and clearing toxins at a quicker pace. When toxins are eliminated, the body is able to relax more deeply and use it's energy more directly to regenerate the cells.
What should I expect during a LDT session?
Clients are treated fully clothed, but, similar to massage, skin contact is needed for some lymphatic techniques.
Clients are treated on a massage table either on back or on stomach, depending on the part of the lymphatic system that requires attention. The position can be adapted based on client age and comfort.
The practitioner evaluates the efficiency of the lymphatic system, which is present anywhere in the body that has blood flow, and determines a course of treatment for the session.
Lymphatic drainage requires a very light touch to enhance the movement of lymph just under the skin and a deeper pressure to encourage movement of lymph in the deeper structures of the body (like the liver).
How many treatments should I expect to need?
Generally after 3-4 sessions you will know whether LDT is helping you achieve your health goals.
